Enriched Air (/Nitrox) Diver Speciality Course

Explore the fascinating underwater world of Tenerife

About the Enriched Air Nitrox Diver Course

Enriched Air Nitrox Diver is the most popular PADI speciality course. Scuba diving with Enriched Air Nitrox gives you more no decompression time, especially on repetitive scuba dives.

What is EANx?
Enriched Air, also known as “nitrox”, is a form of breathing gas that allows divers to extend their bottom time and reduce nitrogen loading. The air we normally breath consists of approximately 79% nitrogen and 21% oxygen, with just very low amounts of other gases. EANx has more oxygen and less nitrogen than air does. This extends no stop times for a given depth since you absorb nitrogen at a slower rate. For the same reason, you will reduce decompression stress and therefore feel less tired after doing repetitive dives on your scuba holiday.

Before you use EANx, you’ll need to learn about how the body reacts to breathing varying oxygen levels under different depths of water. In the Enriched Air Diver (Nitrox) course you will learn everything you need to know.

The Enriched Air Diver course is PADI’s most popular specialty scuba diving course.
Here’s a sample of what you’ll learn:

  • Techniques for getting more dive time by using EANx
  • Enriched air scuba diving equipment considerations
  • Enriched air considerations, including managing oxygen exposure, how to tell what’s in your scuba tank and how to set your dive computer

PADI Enriched Air Diver Online can be completed in as little as an afternoon and you can even start today! After completing your online learning you’ll apply the knowledge you’ve learned by practicing procedures for obtaining and analysing enriched air with your PADI Instructor. You also have the option of completing two open water enriched air dives. This certification counts towards the PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.
