Our contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Sustainable Development Goals, better-known as the SDGs, is a worldwide known measure-tool that was launched by the United Nations in 2015 in order to have a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and for the planet.
We, as a PADI Green Star Award Dive Centre, want to make sure we do as much as is in our power to contribute to the SDGs. We have explained the SDGs that apply to us as a Dive Centre.
SDG 5. Gender quality:
At One Two Dive, we want to ensure every single person that dives with us feels safe and comfortable on land, and underneath the surface. No matter the race, gender, age. By doing this and not differentiating between persons, we contribute to this SDG.
SDG 12. Responseble consumption and production:
We try to incorporate this SDG in every single little thing we do. From doing our weekly groceries and making sure to buy products as sustainable as possible, to reusing our water. The water we use to clean all of our diving equipment gets collected in a basin to be used later on by the gardeners of the hotel to water all the plants and the trees at the hotel.
SDG 13. Climate action:
From reusing the water we used for cleaning our equipment, to using as little plastic as possible and if we do, recycle it. Our choices are always made with the question ”what is best for the environment?” in the back of our head. By doing this we try to contribute as much as possible to doing our bit against climate change.
SDG 14: Life below water:
“Leave only bubbles, keep only memories.” By adhere this quote whilst diving in the ocean. Additionally, when someone of the crew sees plastic that is not a part of the ecosystem yet, they take it to make sure that it does not put any of the aquatic life in danger.
SDG 15: Life on land:
What accounts for SDG 14 also accounts for this SDG. When we see something on land that does not belong there, we make sure to pick it ut and throw it in the bin where it belongs.
By doing all this, we want to make sure we do our bit in the fight against climate change to make sure we keep this beautiful planet as beautiful for our children, grandchildren and all the generations afterwards.
