PADI Divemaster

Explore the fascinating underwater world of Tenerife

About the course.

Becoming a PADI Divemaster you get a passport to great dive destinations all over the world, where you can work whilst doing something we all love – diving! Now deciding where to do your Divemaster Training is an important step, and choosing which facility/ center is right for you can be difficult. To help you, we have put together the most frequently asked questions for you to start thinking about when making your decision.

What is the Prerequisites for enrolling in a PADI Divemaster Course?
To enroll in your Divemaster course you need to have 40 logged dives and be a certified Advanced and Rescue Diver (from any training organization), and be at least 18 years old. At the end of your course you also need to have completed an EFR Primary and Secondary Care training with the last 24 months. If you don’t have these courses or are missing dives, no worries as you can complete them here with us as well. You will also need to have a current medical certificate completed by a doctor to confirm that you are fit to dive. We recommend that you obtain this before you come. We can send you the appropriate form in your chosen language for you and your doctor to complete. It must be completed no more than 12 months prior to the end of your Divemaster internship.

How long is a PADI Divemaster Course? And are there set start dates?
The PADI Divemaster course is very flexible which makes it possible for you to work at your own pace and time frame. As a general rule, a good time frame is 4 – 8 weeks, although the course can be completed in as little as 3 weeks if you come in with enough experience. At One Two Dive we offer four different types of Internships which range from 4 – 12 weeks. We also start the Divemaster Courses on a daily basis to suit your schedule.

How many dives are included in the PADI Divemaster Course?
Once you have your 40 dives required to start the Divemaster Internship – All dives  are FREE of charge! Our view is to become a dive professional you need to have the necessary confidence, knowledge, skills and experience which can only be obtained by DIVING! As part of your internship you will work alongside our Instructors and dive staff to assist with training divers, guiding certified divers and so on. The more you dive, the better value your course, as all your dives are included in the price! If you are missing dives we offer fun diving at a great discounted rate.

What’s the diving like around Tenerife?
The diving here is excellent, it is a volcanic island which means you will experience the beautiful underwater lava formations.  There is a wide variety of fish, many different types of rays, octopus and cuttlefish are very common and there is also a chance to see turtles. For our keen photographers we also have macro life including several types of nudibranch. With around forty five different dive sites there is plenty to discover during your internship. So here at One Two Dive we can offer you an excellent DM package and amazing diving as well!

When is the best time to come to Tenerife?
Tenerife has an amazing climate and offers great diving all year round. If you are interested in seeing the Angel sharks the best time to come is September – November

Where will I be staying during my Divemaster internship?
Accommodation depends on your budget.  There is a nearby hostel only a 5 minute walk away from the dive centre which offers private rooms, twin rooms and dorms. If you prefer something more luxurious we can of course arrange this for you.
