Explore the fascinating underwater world of Tenerife
About the Sidemount Diver Course.
A sidemount configuration (scuba tanks alongside of the diver) offers more flexibility and better steamlining options. Learn about the many benefits of diving with a sidemount configuration.
I don’t cave dive, so why sidemount?
Yes, sidemount diving comes from the technical diving world, but it is getting more popular in recreational diving. For some very good reasons.
The sidemount configuration makes you not only more steamlined, which can make access to a cave or to wrecks a lot easier, but it also helps to improve your buoyancy control and balance in the water. By being more balanced in the water, you will be able to take steadier photos and videos. The two tanks give you peace of mind regarding your air supply and you can spend more time at your favourite reef. Also, you will look very cool in the water!
During 1 Confined Water Training Dive and 4 Open Water Dives, the things you will learn include how to:
- Properly assemble and configure sidemount scuba diving equipment.
- Trim your weight system and sidemount gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water.
- Manage gas by switching second stages as planned, if wearing two cylinders.
- Respond correctly to potential problems when sidemount diving.
